1.5km swim, 40km bike, 2 x 5km run |
St Neots, Cambridgeshire

  • Swim. Bike. Run.

  • The swim, because the water was just so cool and lovely. Fresh river water also leaves your skin feeling soft like a baby’s.

  • The run was definitely the hardest because of the unseasonal heat, but it was still enjoyable.

  • These races are fantastic for older age-groupers such as myself because the swim and bike are low impact but you are still putting it out there for three hours or more – it is great holistic exercise amid beautiful scenery and with lovely people who make it such fun.

  • Nutrition and hydration are so important. Lack of attention to these can land you in serious trouble, especially hydration on a warm day.

  • Make sure to rest as much as possible the day before and day after an event such as this. It is easy to get carried away and overdo it the day afterwards, and this can so easily lead to injury. I speak from experience!
