73 km | 4,350m elevation |
La Palma, Spain

  • Breathtaking, Tough, Volcanic

  • Scenery

  • Sharp volcanic rocks, makes some of the terrain unrunable.

  • Those with good experience in mountain ultra running and have put effort in training.

  • Prepare Physically & Mentally: Transvulcania features challenging terrain with significant ascent and descent - both are more than half of Mount Everest. And also have extra energy reserved for the last 5km uphill. Train specifically for mountain running and practice long-distance trail runs to build endurance

Study the Route: Familiarise yourself with the race route, including elevation profiles, checkpoints, and key landmarks. The 73km ultra marathon starts at the Fuencaliente Lighthouse, ascends to Roque de Los Muchacho (the highest point on the island), and finishes in Los Llanos de Aridane.

Carry Essential Gear: Ensure you have mandatory gear such as a GPS tracking device, a ‘dibber’ (for checkpoints), and any required safety equipment. Hiking poles are allowed but must be carried throughout the race.

  • Get yourself an experienced coach & dedicate yourself to the training.
