Horton-in-Ribblesdale, Yorkshire

  • A stone cold classic.

  • The spectacular scenery, including the Ribblehead Viaduct. And the awesome support along the route. It felt a little like being in the Tour de France!

  • The brutally steep race route up Whernside (it’s different to the standard Three Peaks route). I was on all fours at the top and went from feeling great at the bottom, to smashed at the top.

  • People who are looking to run a classic British fell race.

  • The race has 3 major climbs but is actually relatively flat between them. It also has a bit of everything: road, trail and fell. Train accordingly.

  • You need to run two races to qualify (typically long fell races or mountain marathons). Their website has all the details.
