Long, dark and cold
-
Amazing weather, iconic route, some great views, amazing couple of bacon butties in Lothersdale & moving quicker than expected.
-
My race prep (due to injury) was dreadful, so I didn't have the legs to enjoy the downs as much as I'd have liked.
It got very cold during the night and my watch GPS was a bit glitchy making for trickier nav at points.

Someone who is interested in doing the full Spine Race (this is the first 40%) and/or enjoys running in the dark.
-
There’s a long kit list - practice running with it to get used to the weight and to ensure it's well packed.
Try not to faff too much in the aid station.

The Arc of Attrition (2 weeks later) is another option. It’s similar in length and elevation and has a more competitive field, but encourages support. This is self-supported only.
